Google’s New Chromecast Turns Every TV into an Android TV

Google is said to be working on a successor to its Chromecast Ultra media player. The most important novelty is that the gadget gets Android TV support so that every television can easily be made ‘smart’.

The new Chromecast would also come with remote control for the first time.

According to 9to5Google, the new Chromecast Ultra, codenamed Sabrina, will hit the market this year. The website is based on an anonymous source who is familiar with Google’s plans. On the outside, little will change on the dongle, but the possibilities do increase exponentially.

The addition of Android TV gives users access to all services and apps of this platform. Think of applications such as YouTube, Netflix and (soon) Disney +, and a lot of content from the Play Store, such as games, movies and big-screen versions of your favourite apps.

It is expected that the new Google Chromecast will come with a remote control that, thanks to a built-in microphone, will also support voice control via the Google Assistant. The remote control could also be used to control the functions of the television itself or a connected set-top box.

Nothing is known about the exact release date and price of the new Chromecast Ultra.
