The annual meeting of the Federal Reserve (Fed) later this month will be an Internet meeting. According to the organisers, the risk of corona infections in town in the American state of Wyoming is too great.

Traditionally, the event is held in the Jackson Hole Valley, near the mountainous Grand Teton National Park.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will deliver a speech on economic prospects on August 27. Particular attention will be paid to the Fed’s inflation strategy.

A policymaker from the US umbrella organisation of central banks said earlier this month that it does not expect the corona support to be announced during the meeting.

This year’s Fed symposium will take place from August 26 to 28.
