AstraZeneca Says Corona Vaccine Booster Works Against Omicron

The third shot of AstraZeneca’s corona vaccine works against the omicron variant, the pharmaceutical company reports based on a study by the University of Oxford.

Three shots would work just as well against the omicron variant as two shots against the delta variant.

The results come from a laboratory study that compared the number of antibodies in people who received three shots, people who received two shots and people who have been infected with the coronavirus.

The three shots gave the best protection, according to the researchers. The blood of 41 people with three injections of AstraZeneca has been examined.

According to the pharmaceutical company, the corona vaccine also protects against omicron with two shots, and only the protection is less than against other variants of the coronavirus.

AstraZeneca has no longer been used in the Netherlands since this autumn, partly due to possible dangerous side effects that have been identified after vaccination.
