The US government has given the green light for the supply of weapons and weapon parts to Taiwan, worth more than 1.6 billion pounds.
This happens at a time of mounting tensions with China, which sees Taiwan as a renegade province.
According to a statement, the United States Department of State authorized the delivery of, among other things, missiles, fighter reconnaissance equipment and other military equipment.
The supply benefits the US economy and security, the department said.
The Taiwanese government has now thanked the US for the delivery.
