Putin Shows Willingness to Extradite Cybercriminals to US

Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to hand over cybercriminals to the United States under a number of conditions.

He believes that Washington should therefore hand over cybercriminals who, according to Moscow, harm Russian interests.

In an interview with Russia’s Interfax news agency, Putin said Russia and the US might be able to reach an agreement on the extradition of cybercriminals. The White House previously reported that President Joe Biden wants to discuss hackers specialising in digital extortion of international companies during his meeting with Putin on Wednesday.

For example, hackers who were behind a significant cyberattack on oil pipeline company Colonial Pipeline would come from Russia or Eastern Europe.

Biden embarked on his first European trip this week. After meeting Putin in Geneva, Switzerland, he flies back to Washington with Airforce One.
