Pfizer delivers 200 million vaccinations to the EU until September

The first order of 200 million vaccinations against the coronavirus from Pfizer / BioNTech will be delivered to all EU countries by September 2021, the European Commission reports.

The American-German made vaccine is shipped in bulk every week.

Europe is currently in talks with Pfizer and BioNTech to purchase an additional 100 million vaccine doses. The EU has already signed agreements with AstraZeneca (300 million doses), Sanofi-GSK (300 million) and Johnson & Johnson (200 million).

These resources have not yet been approved. About 446 million people live in the EU.

Almost all EU countries have already started vaccinating. Belgium, Luxembourg and Latvia joined the long list on Monday. Ireland will begin vaccinating on Tuesday. The Netherlands is the last country to follow on January 8.

Germany started as one of the first countries on Saturday. Before the end of 2020, 1.3 million people there must already be provided with a first injection of the product from Pfizer and BioNTech. In March 10 million Germans must have been vaccinated.
