Nintendo Releases A Smart Alarm Clock

Console maker Nintendo is launching Alarmo, a modern take on the classic alarm clock. It features various gaming themes and smart features.

In a time when most people are woken up via their smartphone, Nintendo comes with an outsider: a classic round alarm clock with 35 different scenes from five well-known Nintendo games (Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure).

In the long term, these will be expanded because the device is connected to the internet. For example, Nintendo promises wake-up scenes from Animal Crossing and Mariokart Deluxe 8 shortly.

But the device can do more than just play tunes and get you out of bed. The alarm clock is equipped with sensors that track your sleep pattern. You can snooze with a movement (although you can also choose to do that with a physical button), and the sensor also plays tunes, such as the sound of coins, when you move when getting up.

Nintendo says Alarmo will be available in Belgium via the My Nintendo Store later this week. A price is not mentioned, but in the US the alarm clock will cost just under 100 dollars. But for now, that is exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members with a paid membership. In mid-January 2025 the company will look at other options and it may also be available in regular stores or for all fans.v
