Deal on ChatGPT on iPhones Almost Complete

Apple is close to reaching an agreement with OpenAI on using artificial intelligence on Apple devices, according to Bloomberg news agency insiders.

If the deal closes, OpenAI will make certain features of its popular ChatGPT application available for iPhones.

The intention is for Apple users to be able to use those functions after the update to the iOS 18 operating system, the sources report. However, they emphasize that there is no agreement yet and no guarantee that one will be reached in the short term.

At the same time, Apple is also discussing obtaining a license to use Gemini with Alphabet, Google’s parent company. That’s Google’s AI chatbot.

Apple plans to make big AI announcements in June at its annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. CEO Tim Cook said last year that he was still using ChatGPT, but some problems with the chatbot needed to be resolved.

Cook promised that the AI features for iPhones and iPads would be applied ” very thoughtfully.”
