21 Vietnamese Illegals Found in Refrigerated Trucks in England

British customs officers have released 21 Vietnamese Illegal migrants from a truck in the south of Newhaven, near Sussex. Eleven of the migrants were underage, the British Ministry of the Interior said.

 

Eleven of the twenty-one stowaways were minors. According to the BBC, the children were between the ages of twelve and seventeen. The group was hidden between crates with mineral water.

The migrants were under-cooled but did not need medical assistance. The minors are placed under the supervision of youth care. Two adults were immediately expelled from the country.

The other eight must report regularly to Home Affairs while their case is being reviewed. The Romanian driver has been arrested. He is charged with assisting with unlawful entry into the United Kingdom.

According to the BBC, the refrigerated van came from the French Dieppe to England by ferry. The incident was Thursday but has only been announced by the authorities.
