155 Dead and 50 Missing due to Heavy Weather in Japan. Rescue workers are still looking for missing people after the heavy downpours and floods in Japan.

It concerns more than 50 inhabitants of the region around Hiroshima of whom nothing has been heard yet. The death toll has now soared to 155, reports a government official.

Landslides and destroyed roads complicate searching. It is therefore almost impossible to get aids from injured residents. “We have no water, no food, nothing,” says a resident of the industrial city Kure.

The Japanese government has put an emergency plan into operation. It spends more than 15 million euros of food for the victims and assistance to reception centres.

Thousands of homes have no water and electricity, and there are long lines for distribution points where drinking water is distributed. Meanwhile, the sun has returned after the storm, and with 35 degrees the people waiting now run the risk of sunstroke.
