Loot boxes have regularly appeared in the news in recent months. Studies show that young people are spending more and more money on the purchase of these virtual treasuries.

To date, mainly game producers have been knocked on their fingers for offering these loot boxes. That changed recently when Apple also came under fire for providing these treasuries.

Apple itself does not offer loot boxes. However, apps in its App Store do.

This violates gambling laws of many countries and US states, after which the US state of California decided to sue Apple.

Loot boxes are therefore carefully scrutinized, where you can find a lot of information about the iGaming world. As already described, loot boxes can be seen as small, virtual treasure chests.

After payment, a user can open the loot box, which collects additional virtual items.

In FIFA packages are offered with players, in Fortnite and for example Warzone loot boxes can be bought to provide your character with flashy extras in the game, and so on.

Research shows that these loot boxes can have an addictive effect. Our brain is continually looking for a new moment of euphoria. Opening such a loot box can lead to this euphoria. Consider, for example, the moment when an infrequent item emerges from the treasure chest.
