20 People Injured after Explosion at Carnival in Paris

In an explosion during a carnival in the French city of Villepinte, near Paris, are at least 20 wounded. Among the injured are three children. The explosion came after a straw doll had caught fire.

Five of the wounded, including a child, have been seriously injured. They are not in danger, said fire department spokesman Nathalie Crispin.

A few hundred people gathered for the party in Villepinte and were ready to watch the finale: inflammation of the bonfire.

Something went wrong when the gasoline had to ignite the bonfire, were lighted. That caused an instant explosion.

According to the spokesman, bystanders were hit by flying wood. Also, people were burnt on sides.
